Spring wedding season is in full swing at the Lee Fendall House. There have been many, many wonderful ideas so far!
This lounge furniture was perfect for an afternoon cocktail hour that also featured lawn games.
These tissue paper decorations in the tent tied in the color scheme and were a snap to hang.

Caterers, florists, musicians, event planners, photographers, and the Lee-Fendall staff work together to make each event a success.
A good caterer will transform the Lee-Fendall house and garden in two hours and be completely prepared as your first guests arrive.
Beautiful food from Jose Andres with Ridgewells Catering on it’s way out of the Lee-Fendall kitchen.
Caterers use screens to disguise their prep area in the garden. Setting up outside gives them fast access to the tent.
A full bar set up, awaiting the arrival of the first guests.
A day-of event coordinator can help set up personal touches, such as this non-traditional guestbook table tucked under the main stairway in the house.

Fall was a busy wedding season for us, and each wedding was different in so many ways. Our last wedding of the season was one of the smallest and was filled with personal details.

The bride and her mother, pictured here at the Lee Fendall back door, did the flowers for the wedding. They had collected a wide variety of glass containers that came together beautifully on the long tables.

Events at the Lee-Fendall House often require a tent, but visitors to the site rarely get to see what a tent looks like on the property. Above is a 30′x60′ tent with ceremony chairs set up on the south side of the tent.
The following events require the rental of a tent: standing events with more than 75, wedding ceremonies with more than 30 guests, and seated events with more than 30 guests. Two tents can also be put on the property for larger events. The photo above is from a wedding that had two tents to accommodate their 140 guests.
Tents provide shelter in case of inclement weather, but they can also be a focal point of your event. Lined tents, like the one in the photo above by photographer Len Spoden, are beautiful in the Lee-Fendall garden.
Tents with sidewalls can give a bit more shelter from the elements. The sidewalls can be removed if the weather improves.
But when the weather doesn’t improve, garden ceremonies are held under the tent, like in the above photo by Stephen Gosling.

Old Town Alexandria and the Lee Fendall House offer endless options when planning your event. Not only does the Lee Fendall House host all manner of events, we are located in within walking distance of all the Alexandria has to offer. We are steps away from fabulous restaurants, great entertainment, and a range of hotels. We are also a short five-minute walk from the Braddock Road Metro Station and a ten minutes drive from Reagan National Airport.

The couple in the photo above chose to have their ceremony at Christ Church and walk to the Lee Fendall House with a bagpipe player.
Event planning is easy in Alexandria. The staff at the Lee Fendall House and the Alexandria Convention and Visitors Association are always available to answer questions!

It is always so much fun to see the professional photos from Lee Fendall weddings. Stephen Gosling sent us a spectacular set of images from an October wedding he shot on the property.

Sara and Bill were the first to book for fall 2011 with us. Their year of careful planning produced a personal, beautiful, and memorable wedding!

Stephen took an amazing variety of portraits at the Lee Fendall House and on the streets that surround the property.
Sara and Bill's dog Molly joined them for some photos just down the street at Olde Towne School for Dogs.
The weather cooperated for the pre-ceremony portraits but then behaved badly for the ceremony and reception. Thankfully Sara and Bill had made a rain plan with our staff and their day-of coordinator Karla, from Kelley Cannon Events.
Here, the unflappable Karla escorts the parents of the groom out to the tent.
The ceremony, originally intended to be in the garden, was held under the tent.
The couple opted to place a guest book table under the stairs in the passage.
Main Event Caterers worked incredibly hard, particularly when the rain changed to a downpour during the middle of the four-course dinner service. They are one of our favorite caterers for good reason- their food is always wonderful and their staff never ceases to amaze us!
More personal touches- each table was named after a type of beer. The groom chose beer to go with each of the four courses at dinner.
